Psalm 23

The Lord is my Shepherd

-That's Relationship!

I shall not want

-That's Supply!

He maketh me to lie down in green pastures
-That's Rest!

He leadeth me beside the still waters
-That's Refreshment!

He restoreth my soul

-That's Healing!

He leadeth me in the paths of righteousness
-That's Guidance!

For His name sake

-That's Purpose!

Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death -
-That's Testing!

I will fear no evil -
-That's Protection!

For Thou art with me

-That's Faithfulness!

Thy rod and Thy staff they comfort me
-That's Discipline!

Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies
- That's Hope!

Thou annointest my head with oil

- That's Consecration!

My cup runneth over

-That's Abundance!

Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life
-That's Blessing!

And I will dwell in the house of the Lord
-That's Security!

Forever
-That's Eternity!

Face it, the Lord is crazy about you, may he shine his face upon you and yours!

Memorial Day

Memorial Day

We walked among the crosses
Where our fallen soldiers lay.
And listened to the bugle
As TAPS began to play.
The Chaplin led a prayer
We stood with heads bowed low.
And I thought of fallen comrades
I had known so long ago.
They came from every city
Across this fertile land.
That we might live in freedom.
They lie here 'neath the sand.
I felt a little guilty
My sacrifice was small.
I only lost a little time
But these men lost their all.
Now the services are over
For this Memorial Day.
To the names upon these crosses
I just want to say,
Thanks for what you've given
No one could ask for more.
May you rest with God in heaven
From now through evermore.

Happy Anniversary Israel

Why is the nation of Israel so important to those who believe the Bible? Because it was prophesied in the Bible that it would become a nation again. This is the only ancient civilization to ever come back. A blast from the past you might say!

Let's look at one such passage, Isaiah 11:11-16. Verse 11 states:

It shall come to pass in that day
That the Lord shall set His hand again the second time
To recover the remnant of His people who are left,
From Assyria and Egypt,
From Pathros and Cush,
From Elam and Shinar,
From Hamath and the islands of the sea. -11

Sometime after Isaiah wrote these words, Israel was to be regathered to its homeland. The reference to a "second time" as well as the places from which they would return suggests that this is not the return from the Babylonian exile.

He will set up a banner for the nations,
And will assemble the outcasts of Israel,
And gather together the dispersed of Judah
From the four corners of the earth.-12

Also the envy of Ephraim shall depart,
And the adversaries of Judah shall be cut off;
Ephraim shall not envy Judah,
And Judah shall not harass Ephraim.-13

But they shall fly down upon the shoulder of the Philistines toward the west;
Together they shall plunder the people of the East;
They shall lay their hand on Edom and Moab;
And the people of Ammon shall obey them. -14

The LORD will utterly destroy the tongue of the Sea of Egypt;
With His mighty wind He will shake His fist over the River,
And strike it in the seven streams,
And make men cross over dryshod.-15

There will be a highway for the remnant of His people
Who will be left from Assyria,
As it was for Israel
In the day that he came up from the land of Egypt. -16

According to the whole passage, several significant features will characterize this return. First, verse 13 suggests that Israel will no longer be two nations as it was during Solomon's time. Second, Israel will fight the surrounding nations, such as the Philistines, the Edomites, The Moabites, the Ammonites, and the Egyptians as a part of this return (v. 14-15). Third, something spectacular will happen to dry up the "tongue of the sea of Egypt" and the "River," presumably the Euphrates (v.15). Fourth, the places from which the return will take place are explicitly named, except for the general phrase "islands" of the sea" (v.11).

Of these four items, three have already occurred in the return of Jews to Israel in our own generation; only the third has not yet taken place.

The return of Jews to Palestine and the formation of a state of their own is amazing in itself, given that just a century ago the territory was controlled by the Muslim Turks who hated the Jews. Yet a world Zionist movement was formed; the land came under the control of Britain at the end of World War I; Britain allowed the Jews to have a homeland; the Nazi holocaust drove Jews to Palestine who otherwise would have stayed in Europe; the United Nations agreed to partition Palestine into an Arab and a Jewish state; and the Jews were able to defeat a coalition of Arab states bent on their destruction.

The Israeli Declaration of Independence, made on 14 May 1948, the day the British Mandate expired, was the official announcement that the new Jewish state named the State of Israel had been formally established in parts of what was known as the British Mandate for Palestine and on land where, in antiquity, the Kingdoms of Israel and Judah had once been.

In Israel the event is celebrated annually with the national holiday Yom Ha'atzmaut (Hebrew: יום העצמאות‎, lit. Independence Day), the timing of which is based on the Hebrew calendar date of the declaration. Palestinians commemorate the event as Nakba Day (Catastrophe Day) on 15 May every year.

The Jewish state formed in 1948 in Palestine included persons descended from both the northern and southern tribes. The enmity of the divided kingdoms that existed at Isaiah's time has, in fact, been healed.

Israel has already fought with all the surrounding nations, in 1948, 1956, 1967, and 1973. Though the Philistines, Edomites, and such are no longer identifiable as separate peoples, the Arab nations occupying their lands (and most likely including some of their descendants) are Egypt, Palestine, Jordan, and Syria. These were the nations Israel fought and dispossessed to regain its territory.

Happy Birthday Israel! Has it been 61 years already? Did all this happen by chance? Was it just one big coincidence? Well I guess that is for you to decide.

How well do you know Chinese?

One of the primary characteristics which separates human behavior from animals is the ability to transfer abstract concepts to another human via written language. The Bible teaches that this ability came directly from a creator, God, and states that the vastly different languages of the world are a result of the confusion of one original language during an event known as the tower of Babel. Our English word babble (meaning gibberish, a confusion of noises or voices) has it roots in this event. If this event was a factual, historical happening, there would be clues in ancient writing for such important events such as the creation of man, the fall of man, the existence of a creator (God) and a deceiver (Satan), the world wide flood, and the dispersion of man (at the tower of Babel).

Knowledge of all of these events can be found not just in the Bible but through the ancient writing of people throughout the world. One of the more interesting clues can be found within the very characters of the ancient Chinese letter symbols. China today is dominated by Buddhism, Taoism, and Confucianism but about 2000 years before the appearance of any of these religious beliefs the ancient Chinese served a single creator god known as "Shang Ti".

Ancient Chinese writing consisted of a series of word pictures or pictographs, which combined simpler features to express an idea or concept.

The symbol for Shang Ti (God) is a combination of the symbol for emperor and the symbol for heaven (or above).

Thus, the original God worshiped by the Chinese was a single heavenly emperor (not a plurality of many gods).

The Bible describes the creation of man as God having formed him from the dust of the ground and breathed into him the breath of life. The Chinese symbol for create is a combination of person (or breath), dust, walking, and alive.

Thus, to create is to bring a person from dust to life and have it walk.

The Bible describes the devil as the great deceiver who first tempted mankind during a private conversation among the trees of the Garden of Eden. The Chinese symbol for Devil is a combination of alive, man, garden, and secret {i.e. something alive tells man a secret in a garden}. Even more revealing is the symbol for tempter. This symbol adds devil to trees and cover.

Thus, the great tempter is a devil telling man a secret under trees.

The Bible describes a world wide flood catastrophe in which all human life with the exception of eight individuals on a floating vessel were destroyed. The Chinese symbol for boat is vessel, eight, and people.

Thus, a boat is eight people onboard of a vessel!

The Bible describes that man was told to spread out over the earth after the worldwide flood yet he rebelled and built a tower to his own glory. God ended this rebellion by confusing man's languages so that they set out and journeyed across the globe in different language groups. Interestingly the Chinese chose to use the identical symbol for confusion and rebellion...a combination of tongue and right leg (or journey).

Thus, to confuse is to set out on a journey with a new tongue (or language).

The Chinese language predates the Hebrew of the Old Testament by 700-1700 years, and yet it contains a true and accurate record of events from the book of Genesis. Isn't God wonderful to preserve such a record for us?

Geneology of Man to Noah's sons

Click on to make larger

This chart shows a time line from Adam and Eve to Noah and his sons it was created by Gerry McGovern from Calvary Chapel Hammonton.

Some interesting notes, Adam was alive for seven generations before his death which means he was able to pass down what he knew from being with God personally. He was alive to teach his children all that he knew and how wonderful this world once was before sin and death. Talk about a witness? Could you imagine Adam's "In my day stories..."? I bet they were pretty remarkable! In my day there was no pain, tears, or hunger! We had all the food you could eat it was just falling from the trees! I will never forgive my wife for what she made me do! Now look at the land! We actually have to work now, to make things grow! We had it made, back in the day! :)

Enoch who is a prophet, had a very good relationship with God, he is the only person I know of, that was taken up or raptured by God. He may of wrote a book but it was not included in the Bible. Some believe this book was not inspired by God and it can not be properly cross referenced with the other books this is why it was left out. The Nephilim, giants, or sons of God and the evil thoughts of man saddened God because he knew what he had to do.

There were giants in the earth in those days; and also after that, when the sons of God came in unto the daughters of men, and they bare children to them, the same became mighty men which were of old, men of renown. And God saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually. And it repented the LORD that He had made man on the earth, and it grieved Him at His heart. [Genesis 6: 4-6 KJV]

His son Methuselah, was the oldest living person to live on earth he was 969 years old, who's name meant "when he dies/died, it will be sent/has been sent" foretelling of the coming judgment upon the earth. When Methuselah died, in that same year the flood came to baptise and cleanse the earth from it's wickedness. Some think God with held judgment on humans for a very long time to show how patient he is. It took Noah 100 years to build the Ark. Sadly, only eight humans on earth feared or respected the Lord, only Noah and his family would survive. There are many different accounts of the flood but I believe without a doubt this is the correct one. I also believe that the whole world was flooded because if it wasn't. Why build a giant ship for a hundred years and gather two of every animal of the earth? Wouldn't fleeing to the mountains be easier?

Hope you guys enjoyed this little bit of ancient history! May the Lord shine his face upon you and yours!
